Resting on our third day on the road I have time to inform you about the current adventure :D
A while ago our little Vespa gang made plans for the summer and this is what we came up with:
Switzerland - Italy - San Marino - Vatican City - Spain - Andorra - France - Monte Carlo
If your wondering how we get from Italy to Spain, we take the ferry from Rome to Barcelona ;)
Sadly not everybody made it to the start line... Rainer didn't get his Vespa approved nor has he the permit to drive its 150cc engine O_o
And Alex managed to "crash" his Vespa which resulted in a broken foot! This left only Patrick aka Winston and me to tackle this.
Of course we started with some mountain passes in Switzerland. So far we did the Oberalp, Splügen, Maloja and Bernina. There are four more before we turn south but on the last leg back in Switzerland we have seven more mapped out. Hopefully Alex can join us there and show us what his new scooter is made of ;)
So all is well, we managed to "outrun" the rain a couple of time and hope the weather forecast which announces snow down to 1200 meters above sea level. Our the next pass is 2700 m.a.s.l. O_o
Ciao!

Solothurner Beerdays by Vespa (24.04.2015 - 25.04.2015)
The beer festival in Solothurn was a good excuse to wake our slumbering Vespas from winter sleep.
Together with three friends, all on old Vespas as well, we drove out into thewild west of Switzerland.
Of course the journey was the destination itself, for that reason we took quite a detour to Delemont and back south again. On the way (or not so on the way) we "did" three mountain passes. None besides the last one over the Weissenstein really taxing or worth mentioning ;). Nevertheless did we managed to drive almost twice the distance Google Maps had calculated directly ^^
The beer festival itself was quite nice. All the little breweries had stalls were you could taste and sample their trade. Definitely the way to discover some hidden and unknown gems (and also some quite horrible tasting concoctions ^^).
For the night we stayed at the nice youth hostel, located in the old town right next to the river Aare. The breakfast was a bit miserable, otherwise a good choice!
After some sightseeing the next day it was already time to mount our steeds and head home, hoping to arrive there before the rain set in.

PS: One of our Vespas broke down and had to be left behind, it wasn't mine! ;)

Getting ready!
This next trip requires a little bit better preparation than backpacking through latin america. In all the 22 countries Melanie and I visited we never needed a visa in advance. This time we need a visa for Uzbekistan, Iran, Azerbaijan and a transit visa for Turkmenistan...

hav hiking (06.06.2014 - 08.06.2014)
When Alex aka hav turned thirty we thought some exercise would do him good and promised to take him hiking. But because everybody was always busy (some even away for a year, hehe) it took us four years to assemble the group, find a hiking route and a date.
